Canberra, Australia >> Police said a 4-year-old girl was rescued "well alive" on Wednesday after she was robbed from a tent during a family camping trip suspected to be on the remote west coast of Australia.

The Deputy Commissioner of the Western Australian Police, Col Blanch, said police found Cleo Smith in a house in the coastal town of Carnavon, and a man was detained during an early morning raid.

On October 16, she disappeared from the Blowholes Campground in her tent with a sleeping bag, 75 kilometers (47 miles) north of her home in the town of Carnavon, a town with 5,000 people.

"Cleo is alive and well," Blanche said.

"One of the police officers took her in his arms and asked her:'What is your name?' She said:'My name is Cleo,'" Blanche added.

Soon after, she was reunited with her mother Allie Smith and stepfather Jack Gibbon.

It is unclear whether the A$1 million (US$743,000) reward provided five days after her disappearance will lead the police to find her.

On the second day of a camping trip with her parents and sister Isla, she disappeared between 1:30 am and 6 am. The children have been in a compartment of the tent, separated from their parents.

The police suspected that she was kidnapped because the zipper on the tent cover was pulled to a height that she could not reach.

Forensic scientists inspected the exterior of the family home, looking for evidence that a predator followed Cleo and tried to break in.

The disappearance shocked the whole country.

Prime Minister Scott Morrison thanked the police for finding Cleo and supporting her family.

"What a wonderful and comforting news. Cleo Smith has been found and is safe," Morrison wrote on Twitter.

"Our prayers were answered," Morrison added.
